Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge

First Of all appologies for the very poor quality of photograph.As Im at work during the day Im struggling to take photos during daylight hours which shows in this card. The brief for this card for the secret crafter saturday challenge was to use the layout and use brown ,pink and white as the extra twist. I used papers from pink petticoat ,bazzill bling card plus the scalloped trim is from bazzill too. The sentiment is from craftwork cards and I must have had these since I started crafting !!!. The image is one I got in my pif candy when I first entered the land of blogging and the flowers were from crafts u love (There is actually one baby pink and one smaller white flower together). The last bit of detail I added are the crystal gems as every Diva needs her diamonds!!!

Well here is a card I made for my friend Beth in Australia. I used this gorgeous new stamp fom Magenta and I must say I love it . I decised to use these scrumptious distressed looking papers from daisy d's (?), as I love the rich autumnal colours for this time of year. I decoupaged the bird twice and also the flowers and leaves. I added a touch of glossy accents to give a bit of dimension to it. Finally I used this gorgeous metal brad Ive had for ages in my stash although I was reluctant to use it as its my last one of that design :(

Well What can I say except boo hoo hoo Ive lost my blog layout and cant get it back .I tried to be a clever clogs and change it. I completely spoilt it so ended up with this for now, however all my music etc has gone .I very nearly lost my whole blog though so its not all bad !!! WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!!!

Well hopefully I can enter this into the challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge .I dont think I quite got the proportions right on this one but its not too bad. I used bazzill ric rac but you can't see it because of the image being too big. I coloured the hangler boy in using a mixture of prismacolor pencils and markers with highlights of sakura stardust pen. I made a mess of the corner of the image so ended up cutting him out and sticking him onto some cute night sky paper from DCWV Spring stack. I matted and layered on white stardream paper and used yellow bazzill for the sentiment and photo corners. Hmmmmm ! not really sure about the colour scheme on this one! Anyway Im off to pop it into the challenge just for the fun of it.Happy crafting everyone and big hugs .

I was surprised how easy these were to make and also how professional they look. I must go out and buy more as I think I'll try and make these for all my friends and family at christmas. I used my prismacolors to colour in the images and accented with glitter glue afterwards the pink candle is a pb image and the floral stamp is one of my favourites from hero arts. Well I finally managed to make a couple more cards this week before it was back to work today. I made this card from a sketch I'd seen previously.I also thought I'd add some stitching effects on the card and enter it into a challenge I saw last week. It's ages since I've manage to enter one and now i cant for the life of me find it!!! (did I dream it ?). I used an image by hanglar stanglar and coloured her in with my prismacolors and sansador. I decided to use very pale colours to match the glitter paper from the butterflies and blossoms by DCWV. The ribbon was cut from my new M & S pyjamas LOL .I tied it through the buttons and attached to the card using silicone glue. I made this is for a friend of mine who has recently got a new job.

Pocket Card

This is a little different from the tutorial for a pocket card over on pretty pressings blog. That one uses 12x12 paper where as this one is made using A4 card and still opens up like a real card (If you get what I mean). The papers are Daisy D's which seem to be my current favourites at the moment. I'm not really all that happy with this card .I like the style and I like the papers but just not together. I think I need to think of some more ideas for my next one in this style. I coloured the little stamped flowers with pastel pens from whispers and then added glossy accents on the top to give a little dimension.

Double Springy Card

A back to back springy card that I made on a recent workshop in Doncaster. The stamps are by Magenta and the papers are double sided by Daisy D's .There is a blank square at the back for a message to be written. I think my mum may like this card so I may give it to her for her birthday on the 20th August.

Double Slider Card

This is my version of a new technique Ive learnt at a recent workshop. Its a double slider card and is really fun to make . I decided to keep the front of the card simple using just DCWV papers ,a metal butterfly and some flowers which I held together with a butterfly brad.
The inside has a simple friendship verse stamp (Thanks Beth) and a penny black image that I received in an image swap on the docrafts forum. I coloured the image with my prismascolors blended with sansador and tortillions. I 'm quite pleased with my first attempt at a double slider card and am hoping to make a few more this week. Well Ive finally managed to feel up to making a few cards again. Not my usual standard but Im still quite pleased with myself.
I used my new winifred the rabbit sugar nellie stamp to make a card for my friend, Deb who's birthday was on the day my uncle died -hence the belated message on the front. I coloured the bunny in with my prismacolors and sansador blended with tortillions. I highlighted the spots on her dress and parts of her shoes with my sakura stardust pen to give it a little bit of glam. The card is actually chocolate brown in colour but looks very dark on my camera. The pretty papers are from DCWV and are from the blossoms and butterflies stack.
Hopefully I'll get a couple more cards on this week as Ive attended a couple of workshops this week and have just learned a fab new technique.

Ravenscraig Park and Castle

I just want to say thank you for all the kind messages I have received regarding my Uncle Jim. Although the weekend was dreadfully upsetting .I wouldnt have missed it for the world. We spent quality time together and I was able to let him know just how much he is loved and will be missed. The picture is one of the rare glimpses you will get of me as I hate having my photograph taken. In the background you can see Ravenscraig castle in Kirkcaldy which was across the road from where my Grandad and Uncle lived . It is a beautiful part of the country and my sister and I have spent many happy memories on the beach and in the park there.

I was hoping to update my blog with some photos of cards I'd made but unfortunately I wont be making any for some time . Im off to Scotland to visit my last remaining link to my wonderful dad who I lost 18 months ago to heart failure. My uncle Jim, his only brother has sadly had to go into a hospice and is unlikely to make it to the end of the month. My sister and I feel we must see him and say goodbye properly, so will make the journey to see him this weekend. I would really like to visit some of the wonderful places he and my dad took us to when we were children as I know this will probably be the last time I ever visit Fife again. I will be updating my blog with some photographs when I get back .

Tulip Jungle

Cute card thursday this week was a nice easy theme, anything to do with gardens. Could be people gardening, having fun in the garden, a garden scene or perhaps some little animals you might find in the garden. I thought my tulip jungle stamp by Penny black fitted the bill nicely. I coloured the imag with prismacolours and used a colourless blender,Sansador and paper stumps to blend the colours. The Bazzill bling card and the flowers were from crafts u love. The papers are just the right theme as they had tulips on them although you cant really see them. I had trouble with the layout and must get more adventurous with them ! Im sending this card to Tony and Patti who sold me my new tin of prismacolors.He wanted to see the effects of them on cards.I hope he approves.

I was going to put this card into a challenge which was to create a card with distressed elements. I struggled as I really find the distressed style out of my comfort zone. Anyway the only thing I could manage is to use distressed papers and decided it wasn't right for the challenge but was still quite a nice card to post on here.The papers were freebies from a magazine , large prima flower, penny black stamped image was coloured in with prismacolors , sansador and paper stumps to blend.

Cute Card Thursday- Challenge 7

This is my creation for the Cute Card Thursday challenge 7 . The theme this week is girls just wanna have fun.
I was given this image as part of my pif candy and knew exactly what I was going to do with it. One of my colleagues at work has a scooter and she wears a pink helmet and jacket so I just had to choose pink as my colour scheme. The papers and little chipboard embellishment were from the new dovecraft range. I coloured the image using prismacolors ,sakura stardust and marvy pens. I added that bit of extra bling with some kindi glitz glue and added a couple of flowers and a little pink pearl.

As I have failed to update my blog for over a week I thought I'd have a go at this weeks sketch over at papertake weekly challenge. I dont think I've quite got the sketch right but Im still happy with the card. I used prismacolor pencils and sansador with paper stumps to blend. The papers are by dovecraft and basic grey,the card is bazzill and bazzill bling. The stamped image was from a recent swap on docrafts forum and the sentiment stamp is by cuddlybuddly.

Just a quick card I'm not sure about the colour scheme .I was working in my craft shed and it didn't seem quite as bright when I was making it. I really just wanted to try out some more of my prismacolors and sansador as I'm still getting used to the technique. I think I will have to keep practicing!!

Ive Been Tagged

Ive only just noticed Ive been tagged by Sharon so now I have to tell you 7 interesting(or not so interesting) facts about me.
Here goes.

I used to play cornet for Rotherham Town Band and I still have my cornet although Im not very good these days.
I have a craft workdshop in my garden because my son moved back home and he needed his bedroom back!(How inconvenient)

My sister (Deputy head), Head teacher and myself all work together in the same school that we attended as youngsters so its a bit of a family affair.

I go to Slimming World with Chris on Thursdays and then we usually go out for tea and a few glasses of wine straight after the weigh in!! (Well ,we do have a week to work it off)

My family are originally from Kirkcaldy ,Fife Scotland and I used to go on holidays at least 3 times per year to visit my relatives and tour around the country .

I own a touring caravan and like to go away in it at least once a month when the weather warms up.

I have phobia of stomach noises and used to have panic attacks when mine or anyone elses tummy grumbled.!

I now have to tag another 3 unsuspecting victims so I need to think carefully who hasnt been tagged. I'll add them to this post when Ive chosen.

Every month I take part in the docrafts forum friendship swap. Our names are paired up with a fellow card maker and we make each other a card. Its a great way of making new friends and a good excuse to buy more craft items . The theme is always friendship and this months additional theme is spring based. The card is accented by micro fine glitter and a quickie glue pen. The image is by cuddly buddly .

Im a 40 year old mum of two who has lived in Rotherham South Yorkshire all my life . I work in a Junior school as a special needs coordinator and higher level teaching assistant. I previously worked in the infant department for 14 years with one of my fellow sisters Chris. I love card crafts and recently have got into stamping and colouring in a big way. Ive recently taken stock of some prismacolors and can't wait to get using them in creative ways. I cant believe its a week since I last updated my blog. I need to say thank you to a few people. Firstly thank you so much to Sharon and Ruth for each giving me an award. I started making this card yesterday during a card making session with my good friend Chris. She kindly let me use her karisma pencils and some of her stamps. My paper world challenge sketch 7 and cute card thursday.This is my first attempt at following a sketch or two. It's my take on Sketch 7 for the blog candy draw hosted by Nicola at My Paper World. I also thought it suited the cute card thursday challenge too so decided to take on both.I used my Tilda stamp to paper piece the clothes (Also a first for me !). I'm quite pleased with the results but I really would like my prismacolors to come (Thanks Nikki). I used Whispers
pastel pens to colour the face and feet and marvy pen for the hair. The papers are daisy d's and the flowers were from my pif candy (thanks Shirley).

I really want to get myself some prisma colours and sansador to have a go at colouring images in a little better. I coloured this card with my marvy pens and put stickles glitter glue on the top of her dress. Unfortunately the card buckled a little and spoilt it. I am pleased with the aperture which I cut out with my nestabilities. I placed a scalloped shape around the edge of the aperture and also a smaller circle inside the aperture. I used my swiss dots folder on the circle. The papers were from pink petticoat and really match the colour of the card - a sort of pea green.

Easter Choccies

This year was a very quiet affair on Easter Sunday. Just my mum, hubby and myself . I decided to make a little treat for them both and made these little chocolate sleeves for a bar of chocolate. I coloured the penny black images with whispers pastel pens. put a few got flowers as an embellishment and stamped a little sentiment in black versafine ink. The papers were from the DCWV spring stack. I actually forgot to do these so while my hubby drove to collect my mum I went into my craft shed and whipped them up with minutes to spare. I really would have preferred to spend a little more time on them. Incidentally as I'm slimming I didn't have a bar myself although it was torture watching my mum eating cookies and cream galaxy chocolate( My mouth's watering as I type!!!)

Easter Pail

I Went to another workshop at whichcraft with Paula Walters. The stamp is a magenta stamp as far as Im aware. I had a bit of trouble with it at first and now I dont feel as happy with it as I could be. Ive bought another one to decorate so I'll hopefully make a better job of it the next time.

Blyth Dabble day

Ive adapted this moving decoupage card for a colleague at work's 50th Birthday which she is spending abroad.

I started this at the dabble day but I changed it when I got home as I didnt like it . The green card is embossed at the top and bottom using two different folders. I still think I'll end up changing it again as Im still not truly happy with it.

The eggs and colour behind the cross are actually the same colours and are created with alcohol inks on glossy card. The card is a beautiful satin textured card

These poppies are created using 3 different punches.The petals and leaves were created using the woodware new flower punches.

Ive received 3 wonderful pifs and now its my turn to return the favour. The first pif was from Jilli she sent a lovely green folder filled with stamped images. The second was from Dawn P who sent me oodles of pink petticoat stuff (ribbon missing from image). Ive also received one from shirley lots of fabulous hand knitted and cute baby embellishments but for some reason I cant upload the photograph yet. I will resize the image and post it on here as soon as possible.

Hmmm -Not too sure about this card .I just wanted to use my new cuttlebug embossing folders and template. I may do it again with something different inside.The Template was free from karen karlums website and is supposed to be a shaped card template. However I thought it a little small to stand on its own so adapted it a little.

Tilda Stamp Card

I love this stamp and so had to treat myself to some nestabilities dies from Joanna sheens shop. The papers are by pink petticoat and are very subtle. I thought the peeloffs would be best coloured in with permanant markers as I didnt have any white ones. I may put a sentiment on the card If I choose to give it somemone. However I may just add it to my ever increasing sample cards!!!

Ive been making these calendars for family and friends. Using my cricut machine to cut out the flowers(so much easier than hand cutting). One of these calendars is now off to Australia for my friend Beth. I met her on the do crafts website and we exchanged addresses and sent each other a card this month.

This is one of my favourite cards. I attended a workshop at whichcraft in Doncaster and was shown how to make this card. It is quite tricky at first but once mastered is very easy and can be made up in batches . The paper used is daisy d's and the stamps are by hero arts and magenta.
The front of the card was decorated with a swirly clip a stamped image and an organza ribbon attached by glossy accents glue. I made the box myself too
